Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Dental Services
For Veterans & Eligible DVA Card Holders
DVA Dental Services Cheltenham
At Dentist on Warrigal, we support retired Australian Defence Force members by providing professional dental care through the DVA (Department of Veterans Affairs) dental programs.
Our dedicated team is experienced in helping veterans access their DVA entitlements, ensuring your dental treatments are comfortable, efficient, and tailored to your needs.
We are dedicated to providing safe, excellent care that considers your overall health and dental health.
Our approach is veteran-friendly, patient-focused, and designed to make your experience as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
What Dental Treatment Is Covered Under DVA?
If you hold a DVA Gold or White Health Card, you may be eligible for the following dental services funded by the government:
Dental Services
- Regular dental check-ups and cleaning
- Prevention of tooth decay
- Treatments for cavities (e.g., fillings or crowns)
- Dentures
- Treatments for dental injuries or conditions
Additional Denture Services
- Re-lining your dentures every two years
- Replacing your dentures every six years, unless your dentures have been re-lined in the past year or your dentist recommends replacement sooner.
Some high-cost dental treatments, such as certain bridges or crowns, are limited by a two-year allowance known as the Biennial Monetary Limit (BML). If your treatment goes beyond this limit, a co-payment may apply — unless you are an ex-prisoner of war, the treatment is for a recognised service-related condition, or it is required due to cancer affecting your teeth or jaw.
How DVA Dental Benefits Work
Gold Card Holders
A DVA Gold Health Card entitles veterans to access to DVA-funded dental care that is clinically required to preserve oral health and quality of life, usually at little to no out-of-pocket expense.
White Card Holders
If you hold a DVA White Health Card, dental care is tied to treatments related to accepted service-connected conditions. Dental services outside of those conditions may still be accessible, but often require approval.
Billing & Cost
When receiving care with us as your DVA-accredited dental provider, we bill DVA directly — so you don’t have to worry about complex claims or upfront payments. If treatment involves a co-payment (in rare cases), we will discuss this with you before proceeding.
